Local Authority Fast-Track Affiliate Pilot
15 July - 30 August 2024
If you're thinking of applying for affiliate membership with the IHBC, you will find the information you need here.
Please Note: In order to apply for affiliate membership, you MUST be registered with the IHBC as a Supporter. If you haven’t already registered, you can do this quickly and easily online, HERE
If you are unsure about your membership status, or have any related queries, please contact membershipservices@ihbc.org,uk
If you’re looking to become formally accredited with the IHBC, Affiliate membership is a great place to start, especially if you’re starting out or changing career. The application process is straight-forward and is structured to allow us to help everyone through the more substantial process of becoming a Full Member. As Affiliate status imposes a duty to observe our Code of Conduct while encouraging CPD, it is the perfect preparation for accreditation, as Associates or Full Members.
Still not sure if this is the right membership category for you? You can find out more about our other membership categories here
We recommend that you either read or watch our guidance on completing your IHBC affiliate application form, before you begin completing your application. If you have already completed your form, you may find it useful to review the guidance to ensure that your application addresses the points raised.
You may also want to attend one of our monthly drop-in Supporter Surgeries #ihbcsurgery, where you can find out more about the application process and ask questions regarding your application form. Find out more about these below:
Once you have watched, or read, our Affiliate Application guidance, click on the link below to download the Affiliate Application Form.
If you require an alternative to the current application form in order to apply for Affiliate membership, please email membershipservices@ihbc.org.uk to discuss how we can best support you.
You can submit your completed Affiliate Application Form using the 'Submit' button below.
Do you have any questions about the affiliate application form, or the application process?
We are currently piloting a series of free, online supporter surgery sessions.
They are free to attend for all existing supporters, and those who are considering applying for Affiliate membership. There’s no need to book – just drop-in!
We are currently offering sessions once a month, between 1:00 to 1:45pm, on a Wednesday but we can schedule additional sessions subject to demand, so do get in touch at training@ihbc.org.uk.
Can’t make any of these sessions? Contact Anna to request for additional dates and times at training@ihbc.org.uk.
The IHBC is piloting a new ‘Fast Track’ Affiliate Application process aimed at supporting existing local authority staff working in conservation planning and heritage to advance from Supporter status to Affiliate membership.
Using the ‘Fast Track’ application format you will be able to use a current CV or even a full LinkedIn profile to complete your Affiliate application quickly and easily, so you can get on and submit your application and take the next step in your journey towards Associate or Full membership.
This new pilot targets IHBC Supporter members serving as Local Authority staff in any capacity – full time, part-time or consultant etc. – in a role that involves heritage, planning and/or building conservation for the equivalent of a year or more, and/or have completed an IHBC recognised course.
We are holding a series of online sessions, exclusively for the pilot, which will give you a clearer idea of the fast-track process, and help you begin to write your Affiliate application, there and then! Simply register for your preferred date and time, free of charge!
