The Balustrades
Keep But New.....
Our Proposals:
After considerable investigation we have concluded that the
balustrades contribute positively to the reading of the facade.
The balustrades offer a homogeneity of surface and a solidity
which is lacking from other more transparent proposals such as
timber, glass or metal.
However 80% of the concrete repairs are to be found in the
balustrades, so we propose removing them and replacing them
with new precast concrete units.
They proposed balustrades will match in profile but potentially will
have a much finer finish, the top rail will be replaced with a thin
dark grey metal rail to improve the sight lines and views from the
apartments.
