environment

– Character less well integrated – although gaining increasing

traction (esp. in London)

– Importance of incorporating heritage policies at strategic level (e.g.

interface with Neighbourhood Plans)

Development briefs / site-specific planning frameworks particularly

effective in securing appropriate development

But:

– Effective implementation strongly reliant on:

Availability of appropriate professional advice in LPA

Requiring fit for purpose impact assessments

Conditions monitoring and enforcement
