IHBC Annual School Newcastle 2026

The IHBC’s 2026 Annual School in Newcastle explores the timely and complex theme of adaptive reuse of historic and traditional buildings. The School will consider how we understand and protect the significance of these places, while also developing and delivering appropriate, sustainable new uses that secure their future at the heart of our communities and the wider historic environment. The Newcastle School offers in-person and virtual content delivered by a diverse range of expert practitioners and leading advisers, looking across Newcastle and beyond. It gives priority to continuing professional development (CPD) for practitioners with conservation, heritage and interdisciplinary interests. As such, the programme reflects all aspects of the IHBC’s Competences and Areas of Competences. IHBC Annual School 2026 Welcome to the IHBC Annual School 2026 Newcastle | Adaptive Reuse Page 3
