Current projects planned for #IHBC25 include those listed below, with NewsBlog background and updates linked where most relevant. You can see the #IHBC25 launch NewsBlog HERE.

  1. Update the Conservation Professional Practice Principles, including a new consultation across stakeholders
    New joint conservation practice statement – ‘Conservation Professional Practice Principles’ launched at 2017 School and AGM
  2. Conclude ongoing update of the descriptors for the IHBC's Competences
  3. Review membership application forms
    Reduced & more accessible IHBC Affiliate Application Form
  4. Publish an #IHBC25 issue of Context
  5. Develop and implement an IHBC archiving initiative to collect and protect relevant papers held by volunteers. This will complement existing national archives as well as the digital archives of Context and Yearbooks; our NewsBlogs, and our listings of Events.
  6. Record and publish a series of online interviews with a range of volunteers supporting us since 1997 and before.

Introduction

Since 1997 the IHBC - The Institute of Historic Building Conservation - has been supporting and accrediting built and historic environment conservation specialists while promoting the public and charitable benefits of conservation.

Now, the IHBC is marking a quarter of a century since our incorporation as a professional body across our current subscription year, April 2022 to March 2023.

This web page coordinates the anniversary programme across the institute's voluntary, executive and many networks.

Update

We started off by launching a logo and links to some accessible digital resources on our NewsBlogs news service HERE.

We are also inviting and encouraging ideas on how Branches, volunteers and members might like to mark this special year, as outlined below!

The IHBC's Board has agreed that funding allocated to support the IHBC's Branch and voluntary network - notified publicly in 2021 HERE may also be tied to local events marking the IHBC's 25th anniversary. Branches can register any event or link to the anniversary using the tag #IHBC25 and the logo, which can be downloaded from the Branch guidance page HERE, or click on the logo above.

Above we have links to lists of the three main aspects of our anniversary programme.

  • News - this links to all IHBC Newsblogs with the #IHBC25 tag. Anyone interested may sign up for free Newsblogs using the form HERE
  • Events - as posted on our public Events Calendar service, and promoted through our regular and free CPD Circular, to which anyone may sign up using the form HERE
  • Projects - listed by individual project title. When relevant these are outlined and updated by direct links to any occasional NewsBlog posts on plans and progress.
