Give examples of up to three projects you have undertaken

Headley Hall, Headley, KT18 6NR
Private client. The project entailed consultancy and project management relating to works with an emphasis on historic building conservation, within a wider conservation planning context. Based upon historic research and site survey of this Grade II listed, early C19 minor country house, requisite consultancy related to advice and services concerning the appropriate repair and restoration of Headley Hall (externally and internally) and the construction of a single-storey rear infill extension of a contemporary yet predominantly subservient design idiom. Following close liaison with the LPA and relevant conservation officer, listed building consent and planning permission were granted 08 April 2024.

The Old Rectory, 15 Malden Road, Cheam, SM3 8QD
Local authority client (London Borough of Sutton in my capacity as conservation consultant to the authority). The consultation entailed the provision of detailed advice to the applicant and an official consultation to the planning case officer from a perspective of heritage/conservation. Principally, the consultation concerned the reuse of vacant and derelict curtilage buildings and their conversion to a gymnasium, guest bedroom and associated bathroom and WC. These were in turn connected to their Grade II listed host by a contemporary, glazed, flat-roofed link combined with the removal of modern piecemeal accretions and their replacement with a conservatory. The site is also located in Cheam Village Conservation Area. Principally, the consultation entailed the assessment of proposals against the various heritage constraints in evidence whilst encouraging the use of those buildings in question and ensuring an appropriate design that conformed with the relevant regulatory framework and objectives therein. I was also involved in the detailed discharge of conditions. The consultation again entailed an emphasis on historic building conservation within a wider conservation planning context, but also concerned advice in relation to detailed architectural design and new build in an historic area. Listed building consent and planning permission were granted 10 June 2024.

Styvechale Manor, 28 Leamington Road, Coventry, CV3 6GG
Private developer client. The project again entailed consultancy and project management relating to works with an emphasis on historic building conservation, within a wider conservation planning context; in this instance in relation to the immediate setting of this Grade II listed, C18-C19 house and its much-evolved curtilage. Requisite consultancy related to advice and services concerning matters of curtilage and proposals to appropriately develop said curtilage with two five-bedroomed dwellings, one three-bedroomed bungalow and one three-bedroomed dwelling. This followed the removal of all clutter from said curtilage in the form of existing, degraded dwellings and/or other structures within the application site; i.e. other than Styvechale Manor itself. Again based upon historic background research and site survey, questions of architectural design and new build within a historic context were principal considerations. Planning permission was granted 01 March 2024.
