Donald Insall Associates has pioneered a creative approach to architectural conservation for over 65 years. A 140-strong practice of both architects and heritage consultants, we have led nationally significant projects including the revitalisation of Rochdale Town Hall and the decade-long conservation work to Westminster Hall which won the Europa Nostra Award in 2024. 

 Our work is underpinned by rigorous analysis of the built environment to understand its value and significance. We place a high value on specialist knowledge and our members have comprehensive knowledge of traditional building and conservation repair techniques. While we see every project as unique, our aim is always conservation, which means balancing the preservation of a building or place with the need for intervention to ensure its continued vitality. 

 We are distinguished by the expertise of our analysis and advice: our contribution to the process of managing change in the historic environment is authoritative and respected by local authorities, Historic England and other stakeholders. We are an employee-owned, B Corp-certified practice operating from eight studios across the UK: London, Bath, Birmingham, Chester, Conwy, Manchester, Oxford and York.
