Conservation Areas

• Included in a group of designations known as Article 1(5) (Article 1 of GPDO Subsection 5).

• (Also includes AoNB; National Park; The Broads).

• 2008 Order adds World Heritage sites.

• Apparently greater restriction on properties with CAs than LBs because no other control.

• Class A Extensions/alteration; development not permitted if:

• consist of or include cladding with stone, artificial stone, pebble dash, render, timber, plastic or tiles;

• enlarged part extends beyond side elevation of original dwelling;

• enlarged part would have more than one storey and extend beyond rear wall.
