Caseworker (two posts)
£22,000 plus contributory pension and 20 days’ paid annual holiday
Full-time, based in Central London

The Georgian Group is the national charity for the preservation and appropriate restoration of Georgian buildings, monuments and parks in England and Wales.

We are seeking to appoint caseworkers to join the team assessing development proposals affecting the Georgian heritage. The successful candidates will cover either South-West/ Central Southern England or South-East England/London. They will be proactive, self-motivated and self-reliant and have a demonstrable knowledge of Georgian architecture. Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills are necessary. With the advent of
e-planning, we are increasingly consulted electronically, so computer literacy and an ability to deal with online planning applications are also essential.

The job will require the development of strong contacts with local planning officers and heritage bodies and may involve contact with the press or appearance at public inquiries. Familiarity with the listed building control system would be an advantage. Site visits are an integral part of the job and a clean driving licence is required.

Applicants should have a flexible and positive attitude to working arrangements and a willingness to assist as necessary in the smooth running of a small office.

A natural leader with a relevant degree or professional qualification, you will have a proven track record of managing urban design and built conservation services.

A confident and ambitious graduate professional, you will work with the Team Leader to initiate and progress our programme of Conservation Area appraisals, advise on a range of applications, and contribute to the Local Development Framework. We’re looking for an excellent communicator and team player with sound technical knowledge of conservation and heritage, including relevant legislation.

Regeneration Officer Project Delivery (2 posts)

An exciting opportunity exists for a project manager to develop and implement a range of high profile environmental regeneration projects. You will co-ordinate activities including liaising with partners and other professionals to develop improvements schemes, prepare funding
applications and monitor the progress of projects through to completion. Strong communication and prioritisation skills will be essential. What’s more, you will need a degree or equivalent along with some experience of budgetary control, community participation and project management,

Regeneration Officer Heritage Programmes

This is your chance to manage and promote heritage grant schemes in Walsall, including Townscape Heritage initiatives. Your work will include advising and assisting potential grant applicants and making recommendations on awards. A graduate professional, you will have experience of managing and monitoring projects within a grant-funded environment together with an understanding of historic built conservation.

A highly motivated and qualified professional is required to lead a small team (managed within the Development Control Business Unit) dealing with conservation of the built environment and landscape/tree protection.

Relevant senior level experience and managerial ability are essential and you will be expected to contribute to the delivery and improvement of a variety of services across the Council in a customer focused manner.

Preference will be given to a candidate who is already professionally accredited in Architecture, Building Conservation or Town Planning, has considerable experience in conservation and is familiar with local authority working practices.
