Give examples of up to three projects you have undertaken

Barrow Hill Roundhouse and Railway Centre, Chesterfield

Client: Charity - Barrow Hill Engine Shed Society

Project: Conservation Management Plan

Constructed in the 1870s, the grade II listed railway roundhouse and associated buildings were saved from demolition by the Barrow Hill Engine Shed Society. It is the only surviving operational roundhouse in the country. Working closely with the Society and the project architect, Soul Architects, Humble Heritage produced a conservation management plan to support an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund and planning and listed building consent in order to improve the condition of the buildings, and update/expand the visitor facilities and public interpretation.

Rippon Cathedral and Sheffield Cathedral

Client:
Dean and Chapter

Project:
building recording and archaeological excavation

Liz Humble serves as Cathedral Archaeologist both Ripon and Sheffield Cathedrals. Cathedral Archaeologist attends Fabric Advisory Committee meetings, provides archaeological and built heritage advice and specifies and undertakes photographic, building recording and field projects alongside archival research and consultancy and advice.

Rother Street, Stratford-on-Avon

Client: Developer - Harrison S Developments Ltd

Project:
Heritage Statement

We prepared the heritage statement to inform a design and planning application to convert the grade II listed properties in the Stratford-upon-Avon Conservation Area into a hotel. These adjoining properties are a pair of town houses built c.1798, probably as private residences. Our research established that they were later used for a hotel, social club, doctors surgery and council offices. Most recently, they have accommodated a variety of professional offices and service sector small businesses. This varied history is reflected in the multiple extensions and design interventions at the site and the capacity for future managed change.
